The Albion Raptors ended their three game RDYSL win streak tonight, getting shutout by the Fairport Flash, 4-0.
The Flash were able to get their first two goals early, coming in the first 20 minutes of the game. With speed up top and a couple fortunate bounces, they were able to go into the half with a three goal lead. The Raptors had a few quality chances in the half, but luck wasn't on their side. They had two opportunities off corner kicks from Mariah Plain. Abby Scanlan also put a shot off the post from a cross from Kendall Derisley, then the rebound shot deflected by a Fairport defender. Scanlan was almost able to cut the deficit down in the last minute of the half as well, after following a shot from Claire Squicciarini that got through the Fairport keeper's hands. Scanlan was close to putting in the rebound, but it hit off the keeper right on the goal line.
While the second half was much more back and forth as the Raptors started to get their footing, it was Fairport that would put in the only goal of the half, getting behind Albion's defense and just barely getting by goalkeeper, Lauren Wehling, on the 1v1.
The Raptors next face off against Lakefront SC on Sunday July 11. They'll be traveling to Lakefront Park for the 6:30 PM kickoff.
