The Raptors opened up their Rochester District Youth Soccer League Monday night with a 5-0 win over the Bloomfield Bombers.
Albion put together a complete game, scoring two goals in the first half and three in the second, dominating the game. Abby Scanlan started off the scoring, netting the first two goals of the game. Her first goal came from a great service from Aly Knaak. In the last ten minutes, Scanlan doubled the lead with an unassisted goal, stripping the Bloomfield defender of the ball and got in 1v1 with the keeper.
Scoring in the second half was much more spread out. Kendall Derisley started it out, with and assist from Brittany Spies-Hunt. Derisley took the ball to the middle of the field before finding Spies-Hunt on the outside for a quick one-two around the defender, when Derisley was able to fire a shot far post. Claire Squicciarini also got on the score sheet, after Abbie Pappalardo fed her a ball and she was able to put a shot over the Bloomfield keeper. Finishing out the scoring was Kenzi Hapeman. Scanlan sent Hapeman a through ball into the box, and with the goalkeeper coming out, Hapeman was able to take a touch around her for an easy finish.
The Raptors defense was lock down, limiting the Bombers chances and keeping them out of their box. Kailey Merrill and Quinn McCue split the game in goal, earning the clean sheet.
Albion continues their RDYSL season on Wednesday, June 12 at 6:30 PM. The Raptors will face off against the Hilton Heat in their first home game, hosted at Batavia Sports Park.
