In their first RDYSL season since 2019, the Raptors started strong with a 2-0 win over the Fairport Flash.
The two teams battled for possession throughout the first half, but it was Albion that came out with more scoring opportunities. Claire Squicciarini, Halee Passarell, Abby Scanlan, and Nikki Creasey all had quality shots just barely missing their targets. Fairport's best scoring opportunity came off a free kick late in the first half. Guest goalkeeper, Megan Zakes, was there to make the save, though.
Breaking away from the 0-0 tie in the second was Creasey, who finished her first goal of the season off a cross from Squicciarini. Doubling the Raptors lead was Scanlan. Getting behind the defense, Scanlan beat Fairport’s goalkeeper between her legs.
The Raptors continued to control the game, and Albion’s defense limited Fairport to minimal chances and preserving the shut out.
The Raptors continue their season traveling to Avon SC on June 22, kickoff is set for 6:30.
