Claire Squicciarini (#6)

The Albion Raptors are now sitting in fourth in the RDYSL in the U17 Division I. Albion dominated the Rush-Henrietta Falcons on Sunday night, defeating them by a score of 2-1.

While the score isn't reflective of it, the Raptors were all over the Falcons, keeping possession for the majority of the game, just couldn't finish most of their chances. Albion got on the board first with a goal from call-up, Mackenzie Harmon (Batavia U15). Abby Scanlan was in the box and able to get a lay-off for Harmon through traffic. Harmon hit the left-footed shot one-time for the goal. The second goal came about 25 minutes into the half, when Claire Squicciarini tried to rip a shot from distance. Her shot ricocheted off a Falcons defender, Kendall Derisley was able to take a touch around her and bury her shot. Rush-Henrietta was able to cut the lead in half, though, before the end of the half. The Falcons forward was able to get behind the Raptors defense, and goalkeeper, Elisa Bropst, tried to beat her on the 1v1. Bropst was able to get the initial touch, but the Falcons forward got around her and put the shot in on the empty net.

While there was no scoring in the second half, the Raptors continued to dominate the game. Scanlan had multiple chances to add to the lead, but luck was not on her side and Rush-Henrietta's goalie came up with a few big saves. The Raptors back line also had a great half, limiting the Falcons chances and keeping them out of the box.

Albion has a week break from games, facing off against Lakefront SC next Sunday at Albion Middle School. Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM.
