The Raptors faced an uphill battle on Thursday's match against current RDYSL frontrunner, the Penfield Strikers. Battling their opponent, as well as a short bench and field conditions, the Raptors lost their first of the season by a score of 2-3.

Albion got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Claire Squicciarini. Penfield's goalie attempted to clear the ball, but it would be Squicciarini who won it. She had a great individual effort to beat her three defenders and score with a left footed shot to the near corner. Raptors substitute goaltender, Aly Knaak, came up with some big saves in the first half, but Penfield was finally able to get one through after a few missed clear attempts by the Raptor's defense.

Coming out of the deadlock in the second half, it would be Penfield that would get the next two on the board, capitalizing on bad bounces and missed clear atempts from the the Raptors. The Raptors did get the last score if the game, off a free kick goal from Nicolina Creasey. The Strikers were close to getting their two goal lead back late in the game, but the Raptors' second half goalkeeper, Aurora Serafin made a great save tohold their lead at one.

The Raptors are right back in action Tuesday, July 15 with a rematch against the Penfield Strikers. The game will be played at a neutral location at Genesee Comunity College, kick off is set for 6:30 PM.
