The Albion Raptors finished their RDYSL season on a high note, defeating the visiting Bloomfield Bombers by a score of 7-3.
Albion was first to get on the board with a goal from Abby Scanlan. On a defensive corner kick, Kendall Derisley was able to get the first touch with a big clear up the sideline. Scanlan beat her player to the ball and got in for the breakaway. It was Derisley's turn to score next, as she jumped on a bad pass from Bloomfield's defense for the one-time shot past their keeper. Finishing off the scoring for the first half was Scanlan, this time off an assist from Brittany Spies-Hunt. Spies-Hunt sent Scanlan a through ball and Scanlan was able to chip it over the Bloomfield goalkeeper. The Bombers kept the pressure on though, coming back to score two before the end of the half.
Albion's offense continued throughout the second half, as they were quick to gain back the momentum with the eventual game-winning goal from Derisley. Scanlan fed her a ball outside, she struck it over the keeper and off the crossbar and in. Scanlan completed her hat trick after a great play through the middle. Nikki Creasey won a defensive throw-in in the middle third and was able to find Mariah Plain into space. Plain switched the field to play across to Derisley. Derisley found Scanlan back across for the finish. Plain was next to add to the scoring, after Derisley fed her a ball across the box she was able to lob it over the keeper. Although Bloomfield was able to cut the lead down with another goal in the second, the Raptors' backline and goalkeeper, Kailey Merrill, held their ground to limit their opportunities. Rounding out the scoring, Elisa Bropst sent Creasey a ball down the line, and after a good battle with the Bloomfield defender, she was able to score from distance over the Bloomfield keeper's hands.
The Albion Raptors ended their RDYSL season 7-4-1 for 22 points and .625 win percentage, and 8-10-3 overall, scoring 45 goals throughout the summer. Their upcoming indoor season will start early December.
