The Raptors FC improved to 2-1 on their season tonight with a 2-0 win over visiting Victor SC.
The scoring opened up early in the first half. After making a great upper 90 save, goalkeeper Sydney Mulka played a booming punt up the field. Maija Young was up top to run onto the ball after it bounced over Victor’s back line for the breakaway game winning goal.
Doubling the Raptors’ lead in the second half was Abby Scanlan. Liv Eaton played a through ball up to a running Scanlan, who was able to get a poke before being taken out by the challenging Victor goalkeeper.
Mulka had two big saves late in the game to secure the shutout. Her first came on a point blank shot from the top of the box, Mulka made the initial diving save and then was quick to her feet to clean up the rebound. Shortly after, she had a tough 1v1 save at the top of the box on a partial breakaway.
The Raptors are right back in action next Tuesday, June 28, against Lakefront SC. Kick off is set for 6:30 at Genesee Community College.
