The Raptors traveled to Avon SC for their first away match of the season, defeating the home team by a score of 7-1.
The Raptors dominated possession through the game. Abigail Scanlan opened up the scoring in the first half off a cross from Nicolina Creasey. Shortly after, Scanlan would net her second of the game, putting a far post shot in off a through ball from Claire Squicciarini.
Kenzi Hapeman started off the second half scoring, finishing a great combination play. Squicciarini beat her defender end line and played a great pass back to Halee Passarell. Passarell was able to lay the ball off for Hapeman, who had a great finish. Avon was able to put one on the board after a broken play. Following a cross in, Raptors goalkeeper, Leah Pritchard, made a quick save, but the Avon striker was there to pick up the rebound.
The Raptors would end the half with a scoring surge, starting off with a third from Scanlan. After a quick 1-2 with Creasey, Scanlan was able to get in for a partial breakaway and finish her shot into the side netting. Scanlan would then assist the Raptors’ fifth goal, putting a ball across the box through traffic to find Olivia Krenning at the back post. Next to get on the board was Passarell, after a good through ball from Olivia Radford. Passarell got behind the defense and was able to beat Avon’s goalkeeper 1v1. Finishing off the scoring for Albion was Creasey. Chasing down a through ball from Passarell, Creasey hit a quick tow poke past the Avon keeper.
The Raptors back line of Aly Knaak, Julie Coble, Charley London, and Aurora Serafin, stood tall, limiting Avon to less than 5 shots on net and keeping them out of dangerous areas.
The Raptors are back in action Sunday, June 27 with a home game at JP’s against the Livonia Lightning.
